Biography

Dr. Barnes grew up in Northwestern Pennsylvania. He completed his undergraduate studies at Allegheny College where he was a history major and minored in Pre-med studies. He then completed his medical degree at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine where he graduated with honors. He then moved to Columbus, Ohio where he completed his general surgery residency at Mount Carmel Health. There he was named Teaching Resident of The Year. While in Columbus he also trained at The Ohio State University as well as Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Barnes performs several different types of surgery but has a particular interest in minimally invasive robotic surgery. This allows for very complex surgeries to be done through tiny incisions. Patients often experience less pain and tend to recover much faster than usual.

In his free time Dr. Barnes enjoys spending time with his wife Amanda, an internal medicine physician, and his 2 boys Tristan and Xander. He enjoys playing golf and watching football, especially his beloved Philadelphia Eagles.
